From Jan 2011 onwards the NZTA is about to charge for every access to the Motor Vehicle Register for basic information.

CarJam has been delivery stolen vehicle information for free for years. When a vehicle is reported stolen to police CarJam is updated from the police system to show the vehicle has been reported stolen by the use of the Motor Vehicle Register.

The Consumer Information Standards (Used Motor Vehicles) Regulations 2008 requires a properly completed Consumer Information Notice (CIN) to be attached to all used motor vehicles offered or displayed for sale.
