From Jan 2011 onwards the NZTA is about to charge for every access to the Motor Vehicle Register for basic information.

CarJam has been delivery stolen vehicle information for free for years. When a vehicle is reported stolen to police CarJam is updated from the police system to show the vehicle has been reported stolen by the use of the Motor Vehicle Register.

CarJam are delighted to announce immediate visibility of the "stolen flag" in our free reports. Previously only available for purchase this free information represents a breakthrough in crime prevention. If you are purchasing a vehicle or worried about dodgy vehicles in your neighbourhood then what could be more useful than quickly and freely determining if a vehicle is stolen as reported to the police. The Consumer Information Standards (Used Motor Vehicles) Regulations 2008 requires a properly completed Consumer Information Notice (CIN) to be attached to all used motor vehicles offered or displayed for sale.

A top-up system allows you to pre-pay for multiple reports (minimum top-up $100) and from then on simply purchase with no hassles until the time you need to top up again.

For motor vehicles registered before 1 January 2007 "vehicle year" means the year of manufacture or the model year or the year of first registration. For vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2007 "vehicle year" means year of first registration.
